Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Oxford University Press (OUP) launch Value Education Series for School students
Kochi: Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan has collaborated with Oxford University Press to launch Satthwa: Human to Humane, a Value Education series for students from classes 1-5. The series brought out by the Research Centre of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Kochi Kendra has been specially designed by Oxford University Press India to cater to the education requirements of young learners.
Key dignitaries present at the event included Swami Bhadreshananda, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Math, Kerala; Mr Venugopal C Govind, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra; Mr. Sivaramakrishnan Venkateswaran, Managing Director, Oxford University Press India and Mr. E. Ramankutty, Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra.
Speaking on this occasion of the launch today, Mr. Venugopal C Govind, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kochi Kendra applauded the laudable efforts of the Research Centre and appreciated the Oxford University Press for partnering with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in this venture.
Speaking about this partnership, Sivaramakrishnan Venkateswaran, Managing Director, Oxford University Press India said: “We are very pleased to partner with the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan to come out with a series on Value Education for primary school students. The Satthwa series uses education as a means to ignite young minds by developing their creative and cognitive skills, inculcating fine qualities of head and heart, to cultivate social and moral values in young children and mould them into worthy citizens”. He added “It was a pleasure for us to collaborate with a revered institution such as the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan that has been at the forefront of learning and education for decades.”
The textbook series also provides digital support in the form of interactive e-books for teachers, with embedded videos, animations, quizzes and learning nuggets; and an app for students to make certain parts of the books ‘come alive’. The series enhances the quality of education as it acquires knowledge from various sources and also trains teachers to acquire the necessary skills to impart these attributes as part of the learning process.
This series include lessons that are simple and lucid focusing on varied aspects of human attitude, thoughts, behaviour, etc. which will help students in character formation and acquiring a strong cultural foundation. This series an endeavor of the noble thoughts, combined efforts to catalyze a substantial change in the life of a child who goes through the system of education which Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan offers.
