BHU CONTINUES TO SHINE AS VARSITY’S ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES MAKES IT TO “QS RANKINGS BY SUBJECT”

VARANASI : Adding another feather to its cap, Banaras Hindu University’s Environment Science has made it to QS World Rankings 2022 by Subject. As per the ranking BHU is among the top 450 institutions in the world when it comes to Environment Science. In the year 2021, the programme was not included in the subject wise ranking, which has improved this year to 401-450. Globally over 450 institutions have been ranked for Environment Science. From India, only 8 institutions have been ranked in this category, including BHU. This is a testimony of the leading role Banaras Hindu University is playing in teaching and research of various aspects related to Environment.

Director, IESD, expresses happiness: Prof. A. S. Raghuvanshi, Director, Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development, expressed happiness on the development. He said that the Institute is emerging as a leading center across the country for study and research in the environment and related fields.

Tweet of Hon’ble Education Minister: Hon’ble Education Minister, Government of India, Sh. Dharmendra Pradhan has also tweeted on 8 Indian Institutions featuring in the Environment Science QS ranking. He said, “It is satisfying to learn that India remains at the forefront of global environmental science research with 8 universities featuring in the QS Environmental Sciences Ranking 2022.”

BHU’s ranking for Medicine also improves: As per the QS World Rankings by Subject, Banaras Hindu University has also improved its position in medicine by 50 spots. In 2021, the varsity was at 501-550 while in 2022, BHU has been placed within the range of 451-500, hence making it to the world’s top 500 institutions when it comes to Medicine subject. Globally 671 institutions have been ranked in this category in which 10 Indian institutions have been included.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir K Jain has reiterated that members of BHU fraternity must strive in getting Banaras Hindu University into the top universities of the world. A number of measures are being taken by the university to realize this goal. Be it improving facilities for students on campus or strengthening research and innovation infrastructure, constant progress is being made in this regard. BHU’s improved rankings are an outcome of varsity’s high quality research and achievements in various areas.
