BHU Geologist selected for research project in Sweden

Varanasi : Dr. Amiya Kumar Samal, Assistant Professor, Department of Geology, BHU, has been selected for “SERB International Research Experience( SIRE)” fellowship supported by the Science & Engineering Research Board. He will work with Prof. Ulf Soderlund, Lund University, Sweden, on techniques of baddeleyite extraction and dating of mafic dyke samples from the Indian shield for two months. The proposed research will help to identify several mafic magmatic events and provide precise evidence on the likely connection of the Indian cratons with likely neighbours during the Precambrian. This will also provide valuable insight on identification of new metallogenic province(s) in India.
