BHU releases second list for admission to Undergraduate programs for academic session 2023-24

Varanasi : Banaras Hindu University has published the second list for admission to various undergraduate programs for the academic session 2023-24. Candidates eligible for admission according to the second list may deposit their fee by 14th August, 2023, 5.59pm. The eligible candidates will be provided a link to deposit fee on their respective student portal through which they may secure admission by depositing the requisite fee. Prof. Rakesh Raman, Chairman, Central Admission Committee, informed that the upcoming rounds of admission will be smooth as the data related issues arising out of mistakes in details and information provided by candidates, have been sorted out with NTA.

He said, after publication of results for First Round of UG Admissions, representations were received from candidates complaining the non-allotment of seats in their preferred programs in spite of having “higher merit” than the first round cut-offs. The CAC looked into all the representations with care. It detected and resolved the following:

a) Candidates filled incorrect NTA Application Number in their BHU Application form. Consequently, the computerized admission mechanism of BHU could not fetch the candidate’s data from the result data shared by NTA. Consequently, due to the mismatched data provided by the candidates, the computerized allotment system did not include them in the allotment process during the first round.

Keeping in view the larger interest of such candidates, the CAC decided to match the email provided by such candidates so as to include them in the subsequent rounds. In case of an email match, the candidate is now included for the subsequent rounds.

b) In cases where even the email could not be matched, CAC decided to excavate the data of such candidates through NTA’s API platform. In this facility, two values were needed: Candidate’s Date of Birth and his/her NTA Application number. In such a scenario, CAC has to bank upon the Date of Birth and NTA Application number filled by the candidate in the BHU Application form. Thereafter, CAC checked the data of all such candidates one by one. All such candidates whose data could be retrieved from NTA’s API facility have all been included now for the subsequent rounds.

c) In many cases, CAC found that the candidates’ claim of a higher merit is misplaced. Different programs have different weightage for the test subjects that the candidates have appeared in NTA. In that case, it is advised that candidates must read the BHU UG Admission Bulletin 2023-24 for complete information.
