Bihar Chief Minister assures all help to AMU Kishanganj Centre

Aligarh : Mr Nitish Kumar, Chief Minister, Bihar has assured all possible help and assistance from his government in the development of the off campus centre of Aligarh Muslim University in Kishanganj, during his recent meeting with the Director of the Centre, Dr Hasan Imam. Mr Kumar said that he had written a letter to the Government of India for releasing funds for the centre, which, he said, is providing quality education to the marginalized section of society in the area.

Dr Imam, who met Mr Kumar at his residence, apprised him of recent developments, academic activities and issues faced by the centre. He urged him to provide a special grant for the construction of a hostel.

Dr Imam informed the Chief Minister that AMU Vice Chancellor Professor Tariq Mansoor is highly concerned for the overall development of the centre and he is working hard to make it a vibrant institution of higher studies in the region. He said that AMU is considering to introduce some new courses at the centre. He said that a proposal for opening a Regional Centre of AMU’s Centre for Distance Education is also in the pipeline.

Dr Imam expressed gratitude to the Government of Bihar and district administration of Kishanganj for providing all possible help and assistance to the Centre.

Mr R K Mahajan, Additional Chief Secretary (Education) and Mr Manish Kumar Verma, Secretary to the Chief Minister were present during the meeting.
