Billabong High International School Amanora Hosted a ‘Walk Towards Thoughtful Future’ on World Environment Day

Pune: With a focus on protecting and nurturing the environment, Billabong High International School (BHIS) Amanora organised a Walkathon—a ‘Walk Towards Thoughtful Future’ for its students from Grade 4 to 9 on June 5, 2023, the World Environment Day. The walk was aimed to create awareness around sustainable practices to preserve the environment among learners.

The walk was flagged off on June 5, 2023, at 8.30 a.m. from the BHIS Amanora campus, in the presence of Mr Abhishek Rathi, service director and CSR Lead for Rotary Club of Pune Professionals and Rashmi Satav, a 38-year-old mother, an entrepreneur and an Ironman Finisher. More than 300 students participated in the walkathon to promote awareness around environmental issues such as global warming, waste management, biodiversity and land use etc.

Commenting on the initiative, Aditi Mukherjee, Principal, BHIS Amanora, said, “Sustainability has become a core concern among young learners who aspire to live in an eco-friendly world. There is self-reflection among children about their actions. Therefore, a collective effort from the school and the community alike is essential to help children have adequate access to environmental education in order to create a positive impact.”

Mr Abhishek Rathi of the Rotary Club said, “I congratulate Billabong High International School yet again for being committed to such purposes. We believe in the school’s pledge to foster sustainable measures to conserve the environment early on in a child’s life. Together, we can create a world where our actions today pave the way for a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable tomorrow.”
