Birmingham City University teams up with IKEA for tips on making the most of your student bedroom

Birmingham City University has partnered with furniture retailer IKEA to support students in being room-ready as the new term begins.

Alongside offering the chance to win £450 worth of decor delights, University interior design graduate and now interior designer at IKEA Claire Watts is highlighting affordable ways to ensure study bedrooms are comfortable and tech-friendly in a new Birmingham City University video.

“One of the most important things for your room is textiles,” said Claire.

“Think about your duvet, bedding, any cushions you want to add for texture and pattern and also some comfort for the floor. Adding in a rug will make things a little softer on your feet when you wake up in the morning.

The video forms part of Birmingham City University’s ‘Get Ready for Uni’ guide, a hub of content for university students including budgeting hacks and life skills.

“It’s really important to add a little bit of your personality to your space as well,” added Claire.
