BIS J&K organises awareness programme at Bandipora

 

BANDIPORA : Bureau Of Indian Standards (BIS) J&K organised an awareness program today at Mini secretariat Bandipora.

During the programme, officers and officials were informed about the quality of products available in markets which eventually benefits general public.

The program was attended by Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, ACP Bandipora Syed Altaf Hussain Mosavi, Head BIS J&K Branch Office Satyadeo Lal, Joint Director BIS (J&K) Nisha Bura, Functional Manager DIC Mehraj Wani, Nodal Officer Kashmir Division Eat Right Initiative-FSSAI, Ajaz Iqbal, Designated Food Safety Officer Bandipora Zahoor Ahmad, Food safety Officer Hajin Sadia Javid and other concerned officers and officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Head BIS J&K Branch said that the aim and objective of the programme is to focus on consumer welfare and safety of consumer rights. He said BIS works to promote Quality Consciousness and benefits to General Public.He said such awareness programmes are aimed to inculcate idea of quality among masses.

He said the focus of BIS is to handhold the industry so as to ensure quality products reach the consumer.

Speaking on the occasion Joint Director BIS (J&K) Nisha Bura highlighted the role of BIS J&K through power point presentation. she highlighted the provisions of BIS certification and other aspects of BIS.

While highlighting Product certification provided by BIS Nisha said that samples taken from various business and factory units are taken to the laboratory for testing before issuance of Registration Certificates.

Nisha also said that general public can register complaints through online mode regarding any violation related to product quality.

Besides standardization and Training, BIS also provides Hallmarking and Compulsory Registration to the Factory units, she added.

It was informed that 380 products have mandatory ISI Marking and in near future more products shall be added in the list for which BIS/ISI Marking shall be mandatory.

Speaking on the occasion, Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad said that such awareness programmes for consumer welfare is a good initiative and shall be held in future as well in the district.
