Block Divas observed across all the districts of Kashmir division
Srinagar: The Block Divas or Youm-e-Block was today observed with great enthusiasm across all the districts of Kashmir division.
On the occasion, the respective District Administrations organised related events at different locations of the district to listen to the public issues, grievances and raise awareness on various schemes including individual beneficiary oriented schemes.
The objective of celebrating the Block Diwas is to assess the progress of developmental works being executed in different sectors besides redressing the public grievances and providing the services to the masses at their door steps to strengthen grassroots level democracy.
At Budgam: The Block Diwas/ public outreach program was today held at Block Headquarter Parnewa which was a joint cluster of 4 blocks including Block Sukhnag, Watrehail, Khansahab and Parnewa.
The programme was attended by a large number of people, particularly youth.
On the occasion, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza said that making Panchayat institutions strong will prove engine for development particularly in rural and far flung areas.
During the day-long darbar, people representing Parnewa and adjacent areas put forth their issues, grievances and demands to the district administration.
The DDC while appreciating the people’s participation in the program urged the public to come forward and work as a team for the development of the area.
The DDC instructed the line Departments to examine the issues and demands put forth by the public in the program and submit action taken report within a week.
During the darbar, District Social Welfare Officer Budgam, Dr. Farhana Asgar took an opportunity and put forth her message to aware youth in particular about the hazardous effects of drug consumption and smoking.
She informed that the department is in support of district administration and has initiated a drive which requires public support to eradicate this menace from the gross root.
The DDC later distributed hearing aids, sanction letters, sports kits, and text books, sponsored by concerned departments among the deserving beneficiaries.
He also took a detailed inspection of the stalls established by the department of Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries, PHE, Health, Employment, Social Welfare and Handicraft.
The programme was attended by SDM Khansahab, ACD Budgam, SDPO Khansahab and other concerned district and sectoral officers.
At Pulwama: District Development Commissioner, Pulwama, Dr Raghav Langer today listened to the public at Pampore block of the district.
During the Public hearing various delegations, individuals, and deputations from Panchayats apprised the DDC about the issues pertaining to the different departments including Health, Education, Horticulture, Agriculture, Jal Sakti, RDD, R&B, Power Deptt, Social Welfare, ICDS and other sectors.
The delegations also raised the issues regarding the provision of various services like revenue extracts, domicile certificates, caste certificates, dependency certificates, registration for various individual benefit schemes including social Security schemes for Old age pensions, handicap pensions, scholarships and submitted memorandum of demands pertaining to their respective Panchayat Halqas .
The DDC gave patient hearing to the people and assured timely redressal of the genuine grievances.
Meanwhile Block Divas also held in block Tral and Pulwama where designated officers including ADC Tral and BDO Pulwama besides other district and sectoral officers listened to the demands and issues of the people.
The Block Divas witnessed active participation of BDC’s, PRI’s, Civil society members.
At Bandipora: The Block Diwas was today observed in all the blocks of Bandipora district, during which officers listened to public issues, grievances and demands.
On the occasion, Additional District Development Commissioner, Ali Afsar Khan listened to public issues at Block Sumbal.
The PRI members and locals raised several demands pertaining to their areas.
The ADDC sought an action taken report on all the previous issues projected by the local people and also passed directions for early redressal of their grievances.
He said that the main aim of conducting such programs is to ensure service delivery and prompt grievances redressal at the door steps of the public.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Zahoor Ahmad Mir attended the public darbar at Bandipora block.
On the occasion, he highlighted the objectives of the Jan Abhiyan, Jan Sunwayi, Dehi Taraqiyaati and Poshan Abhiyan programmes informing the public that these grand public campaigns are aimed at reaching out to the people for redressal of their grievances and addressing developmental issues.
The ADC met scores of public delegations/individuals and listened to their issues and grievances.
At Gurez Sub Divisional Magistrate listened to the public grievances and got the first hand appraisal of the public issues.
At Ganderbal: District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today listened to public issues at Block Headquarter Kangan.
During the programme, PRI members and locals raised demands pertaining to their areas including augmentation of water and power supply, better road connectivity and Medicare facility besides other issues related to day to day life.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that the main aim of conducting such programs is to ensure service delivery and grievances redressal mechanism at the door steps of the public.
During the proceedings of Block Diwas, Tehsil, Block and District Level officers remained available to hear the public grievances for on the spot redress.
Meanwhile, several grievances were forwarded to the concerned departments for prompt resolution through an established tracking system.
The Block Diwas programme was also organized at different places of the district viz Ganderbal and Waqura blocks.
The people in large numbers interacted with the officers and officials of different departments and apprised them of the issues and demands of their respective areas.
At Kupwara: District Administration Kupwara today convened Block Divas at Tehsil Trehgam to listen to the peoples issues, grievances and demands.
The Block Divas was attended by BDC Chairperson, Sarpanches, Panches and general public, besides local administration.
The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Anshul Garg chaired the Block Divas and got on spot appraisal of problems of the people.
The people projected various day to day issues regarding basic amenities and demanded augmentation of power and water supply, fencing of playfield etc.
The DDC heard the issues of the people patiently and resolved many issues on the spot and also directed the concerned officers for immediate disposal of other issues.
The DDC asked Executive Engineer PDD to be fully prepared for the winter season and make sure that all manpower is posted at proper places and ensure that people do not suffer any inconvenience during winter months.
The DDC also directed Executive Engineer PHE to gear up field functionaries so that people do not suffer during the harsh weather conditions.
Tehsildar Trehgam, Nazir Ahmad Shah briefed the DDC about Revenue matters.
DDC stressed upon the PRIs and other officers to follow modal code of conduct strictly and SOPs of COVID-19.
Later, the DDC inspected the development of a playfield which was projected for construction during the Back to Village programme.
At Kulgam: Mega Block Dewas was today held at 3 blocks Viz. Devsar, Kulgam and D. H. Pora blocks of the district.
On the Occasion, the Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz Bhat remained available at Block Kulgam to take first hand appraisal of public grievances and demands.
He listened to the public issues, grievances and demands and assured of resolving all genuine issues forthwith.
The DC distributed prosthetic aids and various certificates including Domicile, Income and other certificates among the eligible beneficiaries.
The Block Divas programme witnessed massive public response at all blocks and officers and officials from line departments listened to issues, grievances and demands of people for onspot redressal.
They also registered eligible beneficiaries under various beneficiary oriented schemes.
