Block Divas observed at B’gam, B’pora, Kulgam districts of Kashmir division
Srinagar: The Block Diwas/Youm e Block, a part of ambitious Jan Abhiyan programme was today observed at Budgam, Bandipora and Kulgam districts of Kashmir division, during which concerned District Development Commissioners (DDC’s) and other officers listened to public issues, grievances and demands.
The Block Divas was observed to take appraisal of local issues from the general public for accurate and on ground assessment and redressal of the same thereby providing governance at the grass roots level.
At Budgam: In continuance to the public outreach initiative of the government, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza today visited Khansahab Block Headquarter and conducted a public hearing programme, here.
During the proceeding, a large number of deputations, individuals from different areas of block Khansahab flagged their issues, grievances and demands to the DDC.
The DDC after giving patient hearing to the public addressed some of the grievances on spot and in the context of other demands and issues required to be redressed at higher level, he assured that the same will be forwarded to concerned authorities at an earliest for immediate considerations.
The DDC on the occasion was accompanied by SDM Khansahab, Syed Ahmed Kataria, Tehsildar Khansahab, Ex Engineers of Jal Shakti and KPDCL besides, others concerned.
At Bandipora: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad attended the Block Diwas at Mini Secretariat and interacted with the public as part of the Block Diwas besides reviewing the developmental activities taking place in the block.
On the occasion, dozens of delegations including representatives of Panchayat Raj Institutions besides scores of individuals called on the DC and apprised him about the problems faced by them in day to day life.
The DC after giving a patient hearing to the grievances, issues and demands raised by the delegations and the individuals, he passed on-spot directions for redressal of their genuine grievances.
He said that public outreach programmes are an important part of effective governance and it takes every step to reach out to the people in their own localities.
Dr Owais said that all the developmental activities are being monitored and it is being ensured that the ongoing works are completed within the stipulated time.
Additional District Development Commissioner Afsar Ali Khan, Joint Director Planning, Assistant Commissioner Development, BDC Chairpersons, Sarpanchs and other senior officers of the district were present on the occasion.
At Gurez and Sumbal, Sub Divisional Magistrates listened to the public grievances and got the first hand appraisal of the public issues.
At Kulgam: The Mega Block Diwas was today observed at 3 blocks viz. Devsar, Kulgam and D.H.Pora of the district.
On the occasion, functions were organised at all the three blocks during which several activities were carried out including awareness about various governmental schemes, listening to public issues grievances and demands besides others.
To take first hand appraisal of public grievances and demands the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz Bhat remained available at Block Kulgam and listened to the public grievances, issues and demands.
After giving patient hearing to the public, the DC resolved some of the issues on the spot while others were forwarded to the concerned authorities for early redressal.
Meanwhile, all officers and officials from line departments listened to the public issues, grievances and demands for redressal at block Devsar and D H Pora.
