Blood Donation Drive 2019 on 2nd October 2019, XIM Bhubaneswar
Bhubanswar: Every year SRC, the Social Responsibility Cell of XIMB, conducts various social drives on 2nd October 2019 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of our Nation. This year they conducted a Blood Donation Drive at Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar in association with an NGO – Blood Connect.
Blood Connect was established on 1st April 2010 (as a project under NSS IIT Delhi) with an unprecedented purpose of solving the issue of blood shortage in India. This youth-run organization acts as a channel connecting voluntary blood donors with those who need blood, especially focusing on the poor and the needy. Their mission is to be a 360-degree solution provider for the problem of blood shortage in India.
To create awareness about the growing concern of blood shortage as well as encourage students to come forward and donate blood, this year SRC collaborated with Blood Connect to organize a blood donation drive. The event was graced by the presence of Dr Sudhansu Sarangi, Assistant Commissioner of Police who instituted the drive. The drive spanned for a total duration of four hours from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Students and faculty both alike in their enthusiasm came forth to donate blood and validate the famous tagline, “Karke Dekho, Acha Lagta Hai”. A total of 66 volunteers which included faculties and students of XIMB, as well as people from nearby localities, donated blood. The volunteers of the drive were awarded certificates and goodies for their valuable contributions. The drive concluded with an unspoken promise between SRC and Blood Connect to conduct many such drives in the future.
