Book Exhibition at MA Library

Aligarh : Enthusiastic book-lovers, including students, research scholars and faculty members browsed through books displayed at the stalls during the book exhibition organized by Maulana Azad Library, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).

The Book Exhibition had a bustling start at the lush green lawns of Maulana Azad Library on Tuesday, as hundreds of students, research scholars and faculty members of the university turned up to pick up books of their choice.

Prof. Tariq Mansoor, AMU Vice Chancellor, inaugurated the exhibition that showcased major publications of the leading national and international publishers in various subjects.

While browsing the books displayed, the Vice Chancellor said that books have charm and glory of their own and have better impact on brain and health according to science. Emphasizing the importance of organising book exhibitions, he further said that this type of library events provide an engaging platform for the academic fraternity to come across and browse the subjects of interest and enhance literary understanding.

Mr. Mohammad Imran IPS, the Registrar of the University stated “no technology can diminish the importance of books. Change in society comes only through books”. He stressed the need to rekindle reading habits in students.

Prof. Nishat Fatima, the University Librarian and organizer of the book exhibition pointed out, the event was aimed at bringing the reader and book under one roof. “Such events are very helpful not only to the students, researchers and faculty members to choose and recommend books for purchase but also helpful to library professionals as well”, she said.

“This year’s edition is a bigger one with 35 stalls of the listed and approved publishers, vendors and array of book sellers from across the country” said Dr. Habibur Rahman Khan, Deputy Librarian, and Coordinator of the exhibition.

He assured that the book exhibition will be held at least for two days from the next year onwards.
