Bristol Achieves Silver Ranking in the Latest Teaching Excellence Framework
The University of Bristol has achieved a Silver rating in the 2023 Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) thanks to the inspiring teaching and research-rich education its students experience, and the outstanding range of opportunities this creates.
The University’s Student Experience was judged as “typically very high quality” attaining a Silver award, while its Student Outcomes were awarded a Gold rating for being “typically outstanding”.
Professor Tansy Jessop, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education and Students at the University of Bristol, said the TEF result was “a vote of confidence in our fantastic education offer”.
She added: “Every year our world-leading academics provide an unrivalled education for our students, and we’re thrilled to see this reflected in the latest TEF results.
“Thank you to our amazing staff for all they do to make our students’ time at the University so positive, preparing them to move into successful careers.”
Nicola Antoine, Bristol SU Undergraduate Education officer, said: “Student representation is a critical component of Bristol SU’s mission and purpose, and being able to represent students’ academic interests through the TEF student submission is really important.
“It’s great that Bristol has retained its Silver rating and that we can celebrate the excellent work happening across the University.
“We hope that our submission can support the University to think proactively about the areas of improvement still needed and we look forward to working collaboratively with the University to address this.”
The University’s Silver overall rating lasts for four years until 2027, and is awarded by the Office for Students (OfS), which runs the scheme.
The OfS said the TEF “aims to encourage higher education providers to improve and deliver excellence in the areas that students care about the most: teaching, learning and achieving positive outcomes from their studies”.
