Brock University levels up with cybersecurity awareness

Brock University’s Information Technology Services team has launched a new awareness campaign aimed at educating students, staff, faculty and librarians about cybersecurity attacks.

The ‘Cybersecurity Level Up Campaign’ will take place throughout February and feature the relaunch of Brock’s Cybersecurity Awareness portal, new training opportunities and a phishing simulation contest.

“Cybercriminals are getting more creative and have levelled up their cyberattacks,” said Sean Meloney, IT Security Analyst. “Our hope is that the campaign will help the Brock community level up their cybersecurity awareness so they continue to be one step ahead.”

Students and employees are encouraged to browse through the newly relaunched Cybersecurity Awareness Portal for real-time examples of the latest phishing emails and security alerts, enrol in cybersecurity training workshops, view recommendations and training progress, and participate in a phishing simulation for a chance to win a prize. Workshops include cybersecurity 101, avoiding phishing attacks, ransomware and protecting private data.
