Brock University Seeks For Early Childhood Educator Advisory Committee Members

Brock University’s Lifespan Development Research institute is hoping to hear from early childhood educators.

Any early childhood educators currently working for a school board or a licensed childcare centre in Ontario are invited to join the institute’s Early Childhood Educator Advisory Committee, where they will provide feedback on early childhood research.

“Many researchers in the Lifespan Development Research Institute study the work of early childhood educators and want to work with daycare-aged children,” says Knowledge Mobilization Officer Jayne Morrish. “Who better to provide some insight into that world than early childhood educators themselves?”

Committee members meet virtually with Lifespan Institute researchers and staff four times a year to review, and provide feedback on, research projects involving educators, children, families and the community.

Research areas include early childhood education curriculum, digital technologies and young children, social power and power dynamics in early childhood, informal early learning contexts, and young children’s social relationships and family dynamics, among many others.

“Committee members will learn about exciting research happening at the Lifespan Institute and have a chance to lend their voice to research in the making,” says Morrish.

She says the committee will not only help shape the research itself but also give insights into how results will be disseminated, and used, by educators and other stakeholders.
