Brock University Students Give Back Through Volunteer Efforts on Brock Cares Day of Service
Brock students will have a positive community impact across Niagara this weekend during the University’s largest volunteering day.
The 15th annual Brock Cares Day of Service takes place Saturday, Sept. 9, with more than 100 students, employees and alumni expected to participate in volunteer opportunities with local community organizations.
This year’s volunteer activities include shoreline clean ups, harvesting produce for social profits, helping individuals with disabilities, supporting community events and more.
Manager, Off-Campus and Community Experience Kristen Smith says the day is an opportunity for students to connect with each other while making a difference in the Niagara community.
By supporting organizations such as Heartland Forest, Habitat for Humanity Niagara, March of Dimes Canada and Project SHARE, new and returning students can also learn more about the region.
“We are grateful for the community partners who have opened their doors to our students to share the important work they do in the Niagara community,” says Smith. “Brock Cares Day of Service may be kicking off Sept. 9, but these types of volunteer opportunities will continue throughout the school year.”
Volunteers will be provided with lunch, a Brock Cares T-shirt and transportation to and from each location.
Participants are encouraged to register in advance, as specific event opportunities may begin and end at different times.
