Brown to confer 2,788 degrees at 254th Commencement

On Sunday, May 29, the University will confer a total of 2,788 degrees in all categories — undergraduate, graduate, medical and honorary.

Brown University will confer a total of 2,788 degrees at its 254th Commencement, with undergraduate, graduate and medical school ceremonies taking place on Sunday, May 29, 2022.

On Sunday, Class of 2022 degrees will be conferred on Pembroke Field and at Meehan Auditorium during the Graduate School’s respective doctoral and master’s ceremonies; at the First Baptist Church in America during the College ceremony; and at the First Unitarian Church during the Warren Alpert Medical School ceremony. Undergraduate, graduate and medical students will then unite on the College Green for the University Ceremony, during which honorary and symbolic degrees will be awarded.

In addition to the Class of 2022, this year’s one-of-a-kind Commencement and Reunion Weekend will also honor the Class of 2020, whose in-person experience was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic. More than 1,300 Class of 2020 graduates will return to College Hill for dedicated ceremonies on Saturday, May 28. Their degrees, however, were officially conferred in virtual ceremonies that year and are not included in these numbers.
