Brunel Achieves Top Position as One of the Most International Universities in the UK
Brunel University London is now the UK’s joint first most international university, according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024, released today.
The rankings also place Brunel the equal 4th most international university in the world, based on its ‘International Outlook’: its proportions of international staff and students and its international research collaboration.
This is the first time Brunel has taken top position in this measure, having placed 4th in the UK and 20th worldwide last year. It shares first place with Queen’s University Belfast.
The annual THE World University Rankings rate research-intensive universities from around the globe across five measures – International Outlook, Citations, Teaching, Research and Industry Income – together with an overall score that combines all the measures.
Brunel’s overall score means it’s ranked 41st in the UK and in the 351–400 bracket globally, both up from last year’s performance.
Prof Trevor Hoey, Brunel’s Pro Vice-Chancellor International and Sustainability, commented: “Here we pride ourselves on being a diverse, international community in which to work and study – and on being a world-class research university. We are delighted that this has been reflected in Brunel being named the UK’s joint first most international university.
“We are enriched by our international networks of partners, colleagues, students, alumni and friends, which provide opportunities to learn, collaborate and innovate. Our west London base provides a hub for our international activity that is growing to new levels every year and which is benefiting from the new world of hybrid working, which allows Brunel to become more international while controlling our environmental impact.
“We are passionate about attracting global talent, developing the next generation of international leaders and ‘change-makers’, and delivering impact across the world.”
