Brunel University Ranks in Top Quarter of European Universities

QS – the company behind the QS World University Rankings 2025, in which Brunel was listed as 38th best in the UK – have unveiled the second edition of their Europe-focused rankings, in which Brunel ranks 156th out of 685, meaning that it’s higher up than 77.2% of other universities.

The league table also shows scores and rankings for various indicators, several of which reveal good news. Brunel is:

  • up 37 places in Europe (and ranked 7th in the UK) for International Student Diversity, which looks at the ratio of international students to overall students as well as the diversity of nationalities that those students are from
  • up 21 places for Citations per paper, which QS describes as a proxy of the impact and quality of the scientific work done by universities
  • up 5 places for Sustainability, an indicator which evaluates the social and environmental impact of universities as centres of education and research.

QS’s Europe rankings follow on from their recent announcement that London came top in the QS Best Student Cities Rankings 2025, an accolade it’s held for six consecutive years. QS commented that London has again been crowned as the top city “thanks to the excellent feedback from students and graduates about their experience in the city, and its world-class higher education landscape”.

Published by global higher education analyst Quacquarelli Symonds, QS ranks institutions on research, employment, learning, sustainability and ‘global engagement’, which looks at ratios of international students, staff and collaboration. It is the table potential students, academics and employers overseas look to most.
