Cambridge International Honors Toppers with Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Cambridge Assessment International Education (Cambridge International) today held the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards ceremony in Bengaluru to honour students from South India for their exceptional performance in the Cambridge 2016-2017 examinations. Outstanding Cambridge Learners Awards recognise high achievement in
Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge International AS & A Level examinations around
the world.

Cambridge students from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and
Telangana attended the ceremony. Forty from nineteen schools students
received certificates in the ‘Top in the World’, ‘Top in Country’ and ‘Best
Across’ award categories. Four of these students have scored Top in World
marks in Cambridge 2016-2017 examinations.

The award ceremony held at Hotel Taj Vivanta, MG Road, Bengaluru was
attended by Andrew Coombe, Cambridge Deputy Director, Marketing,
Communications and Customers, and Ruchira Ghosh, Cambridge Regional
Director- South Asia.

In an endeavor to share best practices between Cambridge schools in
Bengaluru, Cambridge International along with twenty schools has formed the
Cambridge School Community, Bengaluru. As well as creating a support network
within the region, the Community provides a forum where schools can discuss
different ways of building a curriculum with Cambridge International and
work towards mutual development. The Community also makes it easier for
schools to set up student exchange programmes, inter-school debates,
sporting activities and more, to help develop students who are confident,
responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged. These are the Cambridge
learner attributes and underpin the learning objectives in all Cambridge
programmes. The Cambridge School Community also met today before the awards
ceremony.

Ruchira Ghosh, Regional Director- South Asia, Cambridge International, said
that the objective of Cambridge programmes is to instill, develop and assess
all aspects of creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
required to prepare students for their life ahead: “We are delighted that we
are holding an awards ceremony to recognize the outstanding performance of
Cambridge learners in India. It is a matter of great pride and joy for us to
witness the students enjoying the fruits of success. These students can now
progress to the next level of their education since the qualifications they
have gained are accepted by leading universities worldwide. I would like to
congratulate the students and their teachers and parents for their
relentless efforts.”

Gnanaswaroop from APL Global School received the Top in World award for
excellence in Computer Science at Cambridge International AS level exams.
Elated by his performance, Ms. Kiran Merchant, Principal, APL Global School,
Chennai said, “Cambridge qualifications encourage students to apply their
knowledge to real life experiences. It encourages development of critical
skills which are vital for lifelong learning. Equipped with these skills,
students will be better prepared to achieve success in their future. I am
extremely happy for Gnanaswarup who is getting an award for his outstanding
performance. I wish him and his family all the luck in future.”

Sakthi Suresh Kumar from Vaels International School, who is the World Topper
in Environmental Management, and High Achiever in Biology and Chemistry at
Cambridge IGCSE level said, “I feel honored to receive the ‘Top in World’
award and ‘High Achievement’ awards. Doing this course at Vaels
International School has molded my thought process while embedding curiosity
in my mind to know more about the subjects I have excelled in. It’s amazing
to see how Cambridge is preparing all the students and I am confident that
this will motivate me and will lead me further in life.”
