Canada Defence Minister Anand to travel to Colorado Springs and Singapore

Ottaw:  On Tuesday, June 7, Anita Anand, Minister of National Defence, will travel with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to NORAD Headquarters in Colorado Springs for a series of briefings and meetings with officials.

Following the NORAD visit, Minister Anand will travel to Singapore June 9-12 to attend the Shangri-La Dialogue. She will be joined by the Chief of the Defence Staff General Wayne Eyre, and Associate Deputy Minister of National Defence Stefanie Beck. While in Singapore, they will meet with counterparts from across the Indo-Pacific to discuss regional issues and how Canada, as a Pacific nation, supports the region’s security and stability.

Minister Anand will also participate in a plenary session entitled New Ideas for Securing Regional Stability.

Asia’s premier defence summit, the Shangri-La Dialogue is a unique meeting where ministers from more than 50 nations discuss and debate the region’s most pressing security challenges, engage in important bilateral talks, and work to strengthen the rules based international order.
