Capacity Building Programme for Social Science Faculty begins at AMU
Aligarh : Prof Mohd Ashraf (Dean, Faculty of Science) pointed out that the capacity building programmes provide the faculty with the requisite technical skills, individual abilities, attitude and competence while inaugurating a two-week ‘Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) sponsored Capacity Building Programme for Social Science Faculty’ of the Department of Geography.
“This programme will help the teachers of various social science disciplines to understand the applications of techniques in different research problems, enhance their writing for quality research papers and efficacious project proposals and prepare them for better field work. The training in this programme will produce a more dynamic research ecosystem”, he said.
In the welcome address, Prof S Naushad Ahmad (Chairman, Department of Geography) said that the programme is aimed to make young educators and researchers aware of the recent updates in their fields.
“The participants will receive the required prowess in research methodology to hone their skills in the two-weeks of this programme”, he added.
Prof Naushad discussed major research issues such as global warming, climate change, environmental degradation, pollution, population growth and sustainable development, eradication of hunger and poverty, health and wellbeing particularly lowering of infant and child mortality rate and gender equality and empowerment.
