Cardiff University: University furthers commitment to becoming an anti-racist institution
Cardiff University has become a supporting organisation of Race Alliance Wales as part of its commitment to becoming an actively anti-racist institution.
Race Alliance Wales aims to contribute to a more equal, cohesive and globally responsible Wales, and to making Wales a welcoming place of safety where rights are enjoyed and racialised people can thrive.
As a supporting organisation, the University will share ideas and support the objectives of Race Alliance Wales, and have the opportunity to meet with other individuals and organisations interested in achieving race equality in Wales.
The University has also signed Race Council Cymru’s Zero Racism Wales pledge, a zero-tolerance policy which calls on organisations in Wales to ensure that no job applicant, visitor, or guest of an organisation receives less favourable treatment on any grounds which are not relevant to good employment practice.
The names of all organisations who sign up to the pledge are publicly listed on the Zero Racism Wales website to hold them accountable.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Colin Riordan said: “We are clear on our responsibility to be inclusive and to encourage diversity of thought and action through our actions.
“We are taking all the steps we can to becoming an anti-racist institution. Our links with Race Alliance Wales and the Zero Racism Wales pledge take us another step further on our journey.”
