Celebrating Bonds: Recognition Ceremony Honors Kyushu University Alumni in Indonesia
On Monday, November 6, 2023, at Kyushu University’s Ito Campus, a recognition ceremony was held for the Association of Kyushu University Alumni in Indonesia, an organization that consists of international alumni residing in Indonesia. The association, which currently has 141 members, was officially registered as one of Kyushu University’s overseas alumni associations in July 2023.
The event was facilitated by Executive Vice President Sonoda, who is in charge of Alumni Associations. President Ishibashi and the Association of Kyushu University Alumni in Indonesia’s Acting President, Sri Djangkung Sumbogo Murti, delivered remarks. The certificate and the university flag were presented to Acting President Sri Djangkung Sumbogo to mark the official recognition as one of Kyushu University’s overseas alumni associations.
Afterward, the participants shared their opinions on the activities of the Association of Kyushu University Alumni in Indonesia and showed support for mutual exchange between Indonesia and Kyushu University.
Kyushu University has been working to create new networks among Japanese university faculty, alumni, and the community in the Asia-Pacific region through the Kyushu University Forum “KYUDAI NOW”. KYUDAI NOW was held twice in Indonesia last year (in January and August, 2023) to highlight Kyushu University’s latest research and encourage exchange between Kyushu University and Indonesia.
The recognition of the Association of Kyushu University Alumni in Indonesia will promote further collaboration between Kyushu University and universities in Indonesia, including encouraging the acceptance of international students from Indonesia to Kyushu University and enhancing mutual relationships.
Kyushu University has been diligently pursuing stronger ties with alumni associations both in Japan and overseas. Several overseas alumni associations have already joined the Kyushu University Alumni Association (*1), a federation of departmental alumni associations and regional alumni associations. To broaden the scope of exchange and collaboration, a new registration system (*2) was launched for overseas alumni associations in February 2020.
