Cement and Concrete Composites-Elsevier publishes work of AMU faculty members

Aligarh: ‘Cement and Concrete Composites-Elsevier’ (A peer reviewed scientific journal) has published the study of Department of Civil Engineering, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) faculty members, Prof Tabassum Naqvi and Moin ul Haq titled, ‘Fatigue Damage and Residual Fatigue Life Assessment in Reinforced Concrete Frames using PZT-Impedance Transducers.’

The research has put forward a new methodology for monitoring the health of concrete structures using embedded piezoelectric transducers, devices for measuring changes by converting energy into electrical charge.

It took us three years of rigorous hard work to complete the research, said Prof Tabassum Naqvi and Moin ul Haq adding that the study focuses on providing a new procedure for detecting critical concrete damages and estimating the remaining useful life of structures.

The AMU faculty members had teamed up with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) professor, Dr Suresh Bhalla to complete the work.
