Central Bank of India sign MOU with NABARD to manufacture sanitary pads in each district
New Delhi: Central Bank of India and NABFOUNDATION a subsidiary of NABARD, have todaysigned an MOU for providing working capital finance to woman SHGs for making sanitarypads under the MY PAD MY RIGHT project.
The MoU was executed by Shri Sundeep Gulati, General Manager (ARD-FI) Central Bank of India and Shri Sanjeev D Rohilla, CEO NABFoundation in the presence of Shri Pallav Mohapatra, Managing Director& CEO Central Bank of India and Shri Alok Srivastava, Executive Director Central Bank of India and Ms Rosie Tshering, Country Head Micro Finance NABARD.

The project will provide a sustainable livelihood opportunity to over 14700 rural woman SHGmembers in 3000 villages across India. Through this programme woman will get to earn a living while also be taking care of basic menstrual hygiene. The project will enable rural woman to access pads in a safe accessible and familiar environment through their own network on a regular basis. The project addresses challenges of affordability and local availability comprehensively.
NABARD is providing one machine for making sanitary pads in each district to one SHG. These SHG’s need working capital support of Rs.50,000/- to Rs.80,000/- a month, Central Bank Of India in collaboration with NAB Foundation will be providing the required working capital support to the SHG’s as per prescribed norms for this programme.
