Central University of Odisha (CUO), Koraput will start three new undergraduate programmes and one postgraduate programme from the academic year 2023-24
The Central University of Odisha (CUO), Koraput will start three new undergraduate programmes and one postgraduate programme from the academic year 2023-24. These are four-year BSc programmes in Agriculture Science, Dairy Science, and Forest Management and two year PG/MBA Programme in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Vice Chancellor of the university Prof Chakradhar Tripathi had a meeting in the Union Ministry of Education at New Delhi to discuss the starting of the new programmes.
“It is worth mentioned that in 2012 the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations has accorded the status of Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS) to the traditional agricultural system being practiced in the Koraput region of Odisha for promoting food security and conserving biodiversity. The university is going to start a four-year BSc programme in Agriculture Science, Dairy Science and Forest Management from the academic session 2023-24 keeping this in view,” said VC Prof Tripathi.
Further, he said that Koraput is a prominent producer of rice, millet, ginger, coffee, black pepper, vegetable, and jackfruit. Strawberry, dragon fruit, apple, banana, and other rare fruits are also produced in the Koraput soil. In spite of such huge production, there is no adequate management and supply chain system for marketing these products at the national and international level. The new programme i.e. two year PG/MBA programme in Logistics and Supply Chain Management will fulfil these demands.
The university will issue admission notification shortly for the programmes and the admission process will be completed by July 31. The intake capacity in each discipline will be 44. The new faculty for the above programmes will be recruited in near future.
