Central University of Odisha organises a Special Lecture on “Life and Contribution of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar”

On 15 April 2024, in a tribute to the 134th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the Central University of Odisha hosted a special lecture on “life and contribution of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar” at its Sunabeda campus. The event featured distinguished speakers, including renowned academics Prof. Balu Ananda Chopade, former Vice-Chancellor of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad, and Dr. Prashant Meshram, Joint Registrar of Visva Bharati. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of CUO, Prof. Chakradhar Tripathi, presided over the program and delivered the presidential address. Other dignitaries on the dais were Prof. N. C. Panda, In charge Registrar & Finance Officer and Prof. V. C. Jha, Advisor, Academic and Administration. Prof. Hemraj Meena, In charge Director of Rajbhasha Cell delivered the welcome address.

Prof. Tripathi emphasized Dr. Ambedkar’s profound teachings, hailing him as a visionary global icon and a true architect of the nation. He urged the university community to delve into Dr. Ambedkar’s life, teachings, and contributions, drawing inspiration to actively contribute to societal and national progress.

Highlighting Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s unique stature, Prof. Chopade underscored his significance as a symbol of knowledge, particularly noting his distinguished academic journey at Columbia University. He emphasized Dr. Ambedkar’s multifaceted brilliance as a scholar, social reformer, jurist, economist, and advocate for various causes, including women empowerment.

Dr. Meshram shed light on Dr. Ambedkar’s global recognition, being celebrated worldwide on his birth anniversary. He emphasized Dr. Ambedkar’s multifaceted contributions, from his pivotal role in drafting the Indian Constitution to his efforts in establishing key institutions and policies that shaped modern India.

Prof. Jha emphasized Dr. Ambedkar’s pivotal role in shaping modern India through his legislative acumen and policy interventions. He stressed that Dr. Ambedkar’s vision continues to guide the nation towards progress and excellence.

Prof. Panda likened Dr. Ambedkar to a revered sage of India, highlighting his unwavering dedication to societal upliftment and progress, drawing parallels with the teachings of ancient scriptures.

The event was coordinated by Prof. Meena, who extended gratitude to all participants. Faculty members, officers, students, and research scholars attended the lecture, marking a momentous tribute to the enduring legacy of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.
