Central University of Punjab commenced twelve-days national workshop on Curriculum Design & Development

New Delhi: Central University of Punjab (C.U.P.) commenced twelve-days national workshop on Curriculum Design & Development on Wednesday. Centre for Curriculum Research, Policy & Educational Development, School of Education, C.U.P. under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari is organizing this workshop to be held from 3rd February to 16th February. The keynote speaker of the inaugural session was Prof. C.B. Sharma, IGNOU, New Delhi. The Faculty from different institutions across the country are attending this workshop via online platform.
While addressing the participants the Keynote Speaker Prof. C.B. Sharma stated that New Education Policy-2020 emphasized on the need to develop bharat-centric curriculum based on our traditional Indian Knowledge System which promotes the feeling of Vishw Bandhutva and Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. He added that Union Budget 2021, will further strengthen the implementation process of various reforms of NEP-2020 including formulation of National Curriculum Framework aiming to increase the quality of teachers and teaching methods.
The Vice Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari complimented Prof. C.B. Sharma for delivering the scholarly address. He asserted that our traditional knowledge systems have given us the concepts of life-long learning and Samagra Vyaktitva Vikas of a person in which family, society and educational institutions play a vital role. He emphasized that Curriculum Framework should focus on creating the harmonized society and developing responsible citizens who will contribute to the nation’s development. He added that during this workshop, participants will learn to design important components of Curriculum Development including graduate attributes, syllabus, pedagogy and evaluation tools to achieve well-defined Learning Outcomes
The programme commenced with the welcome address by Prof. S.K. Bawa where she put light on the programme theme. She mentioned that this workshop will include 23 sessions during which 15 expert speakers will share their views on various aspects of Curriculum Design & Development. Dean Incharge Academics Prof. R.K. Wusirika encouraged participants to actively participate in all the sessions of this workshop and he delivered the formal vote of thanks.
