Central University of Punjab organized Webinar on ‘Preparing for National Educational Policy 2020’

Bathinda: The IQAC Cell of the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB) organized a Webinar on “Preparing for National Education Policy (NEP) 2020”. On this occasion, Prof. (Dr.) M.K. Sridhar, Member of Draft NEP Committee and Member of UGC, was the keynote speaker.

The programme commenced with the Welcome Address by Prof. S.K. Bawa, Director IQAC.She introduced the keynote speaker and put a light on the topic of the Webinar. She informed that under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, the university is conducting 8th Webinar on NEP-2020 under the Webinar Series on NEP-2020.

Keynote speaker Prof. M.K. Sridhar in his address highlighted the importance of implementation of key reforms of NEP-2020 like Identifying Graduate Attributes, Developing Learning Outcome based Curriculum, achieving flexibility in the Higher Education System with multiple entry and exit options, adopting STEM/STEAM based learning for multidisciplinary studies, Academic Bank of Credit, Industrial Collaborations, Adoption of innovative teaching pedagogy techniques, Strengthening of Online Educational Resources, emphasizing on practical training for skill development etc. in order to produce skill-based intellectual global workforce who can contribute to the nation’s development. He emphasized that now, all HEIs should start preparing for the implementation of NEP-2020 rather than still waiting for it. He also asserted that before initiating for physical preparation, HEIs should mentally prepare teachers, administrators and students for effective implementation with the participation of everyone.

 

Vice Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari complemented for sharing a roadmap for the implementation of NEP-2020. He informed that CUPB has already started its preparation for the implementation of NEP-2020 and has prepared Learning Outcome based Curriculum Framework leading to achieve Graduate Outcome for all our Post Graduate Programmes. He stated that the implementation of major reforms of NEP-2020 related to Curriculum Design & Development, Teaching & Learning; Training & Evaluation and Infrastructural reforms are only be possible with the support & participation of teachers & learners.

 

Shri Kanwal Pal Singh Mundra, the Registrar, ensured that the University administration will make necessary arrangement for effective implementation of all imperatives of NEP-2020. Towards the end, he gave the formal vote of thanks.
