Central University of Punjab organized Workshop on Virtual Labs
Bathinda : The Department of Microbiology, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council, Central University of Punjab Bathinda (CUPB), organized a workshop on Virtual Labs in collaboration with IIT Delhi for the faculty and students.
The programme commenced with the welcome address by Prof. R.K. Wusirika, Dean Incharge Academics. He stated that Virtual Labs provide remote access to simulation-based labs in various disciplines of science and engineering. This will provide an opportunity for students to get exposure to conducting complex experiments virtually and gain the confidence to perform the real experiments proficiently.
Prof. Monisha Dhiman, Director, IQAC, mentioned that Virtual Labs is an initiative of the Ministry of Education to help students learn basic and advanced concepts through remote experimentation. She further stated that the Central University of Punjab has registered as a nodal centre with the Virtual Labs portal to enable our students to access this remote experimentation facility.
During this programme, Mr. Prateek Sharma (Sr. Field Engineer), Mr. Chandan Kumar (Field Engineer), and Mr. Chirag Dey (Field Engineer) from IIT Delhi provided training on the Virtual Lab Platform. They informed that virtual labs are anytime, anywhere labs that are developed in self-learning modes and facilitate innovative experimentation in the fields of science and engineering. The IIT Delhi team demonstrated the process of conducting different experiments on the virtual labs and showcased how to use different learning tools available on this platform.
Dr. Somesh Baranwal, HoD, Dept. of Microbiology, stated that Virtual Labs are the paradigm shift in providing student centric online education. He expressed his gratitude towards IIT experts. Towards the end, Dr. Amit Singh, gave a formal vote of thanks.
More than 200 research scholars and students from different departments attended this programme.
