Central University of Punjab successfully organized 10th Annual Sports Meet

 

Bathinda : The 10th Annual Sports Meet of the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB) culminated with a grand prize distribution ceremony accompanied with great fanfare.

The special highlight of the 10th Annual CUPB Sports Meet was the Indigenous Games of Punjab, such as Pithu Garam, Stapoo, Gilli Danda, Kabaddi, Tug of War, etc. The other gaming competitions that were held during this mega sporting event were the Discus Throw, Shot Put, Volleyball, Cricket, Badminton, 100 metre race, and 50 metre race. In addition to this, various games were organized under the Fitness Challenge competitions for students and faculty members, such as Push Ups, Dand Bathak, Barfi Jump, Plank, and Sirsha Asana.

The inaugural ceremony commenced with the hoisting of the university flag and torch lighting by the CUPB Vice Chancellor Prof. R.P. Tiwari, and the Chief Guest of the Programme, Lt. Gen. Dr. J.S. Cheema (Vice Chancellor, The Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University (MBSPSU), Patiala).

CUPB students enthusiastically participated in the Indigenous Games of Punjab as well as in other games and displayed their sportsmanship spirit during this sporting extravaganza.

During the valedictory ceremony, CUPB Registrar Shri Kanwal Pal Singh Mundra, along with Dean Student Welfare Prof. Vinod K. Garg and Dean In-charge Academics Prof. R.K. Wusirika, awarded prizes to the winners. More than 350 medals were distributed during the prize distribution ceremony.

“Sports are an essential component for the holistic and all-round development of an individual’s personality, and students should adopt sports in their daily life to stay fit and healthy”, said Prof. V.K. Garg while congratulating the winners.

Towards the end, the faculty members from the CUPB Dept. of Physical Education thanked the students, research scholars, teaching and non-teaching staff for their extended coordination to make this programme a big success.
