Central University of Punjab’s Research Output Doubles in past Three Years

Bathinda : The Central University of Punjab, under the dynamic leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, is achieving unprecedented success in education and research. Recently, the university reached a significant milestone by doubling its research output in less than three years. Notably, the University’s research publications in SCOPUS listed journals surged from 1,097 as of December 31, 2020, to 2,487 as of September 1, 2023, marking a remarkable 126% growth. The university now boasts an impressive SCOPUS h-index of 77.

Furthermore, the institution has made substantial progress in securing extramural research grants. The University has got a total sanction of 222 research projects amounting 88.5 Cr, out of which 55 research projects worth 32.75 Cr were sanctioned in just last three years.

Over the last three years, the university’s faculty has published their research in esteemed high-impact journals such as Lancet, Nature, Molecular Cancer, and Nature Global Health, while also receiving prestigious DST-FIST and DST-PURSE grants.

This remarkable increase in research output not only solidifies the university’s stature as a leading research-centric institution in the region but also contributes significantly to the advancement of knowledge across diverse fields.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari mentioned that the Central University of Punjab’s achievement in doubling its research output in a short duration of around three years reflects its dedication to academic excellence and commitment to contributing to society through research and innovation. He dedicated this accomplishment to the unwavering commitment of faculty and students to push boundaries in their pursuit of knowledge.

While sharing the details Prof. R.K. Wusirika, Dean Incharge Academics; Prof. Anjana Munshi, Director, Research & Development Cell; and Prof. Monisha Dhiman, Director IQAC highlighted that Vice-Chancellor Professor Raghavendra P.
