Centre for Civil Society Launches Language Learning Lab to Enhance English Proficiency in Budget Private Schools

New Delhi- The Centre for Civil Society (CCS), India’s public policy think tank, launched the Language Learning Lab at Hari Vidya Bhawan in Sangam Vihar, New Delhi. The Language Learning Lab initiative aims to equip students with essential English language skills, providing them with valuable academic and personal growth opportunities. This initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing English language proficiency among students from Budget Private Schools.

This innovative program leverages the Freadom app to offer an engaging and interactive learning experience that goes beyond traditional methods. The Lab is designed to serve as a dedicated space where students can use mobile tablets loaded with curated content, enhancing their reading, speaking, and comprehension skills through stories, games, and activities.

Esteemed author and public intellectual Gurcharan Das attended the event and praised the Language Learning Lab initiative’s forward-thinking approach to education. He emphasized technology’s critical role in making learning effective and accessible. Das remarked, “Our goal is not to create Shakespeare but to give children the ability to speak naturally and confidently in everyday language.”

Amit Chandra, CEO of the Centre for Civil Society, highlighted the importance of this initiative for the future of students. He stated, “If we want our children to receive a quality education, we must provide it to them. If they aspire to reach for the sky, they must learn English. Becoming a global citizen requires English proficiency.” He further added, “This new experience will combine the Freadom app and teacher-led sessions to create an immersive learning environment.”

Sushil Dhankar, Chairman of Hari Vidya Bhawan, pointed out the importance of a supportive home environment and active parental involvement. He said, “Our children need proper guidance, and it’s necessary that parents and schools work together. Creating an English-speaking environment at home is key to strengthening the language skills students learn at school and ensuring continuous learning.”

Launching the Language Learning Lab is more than just an educational achievement; it represents a commitment to empowering young minds with the tools they need to succeed in an increasingly globalized world. This initiative reflects CCS’s belief that every child, regardless of their socio-economic background, deserves access to quality education and the opportunity to dream big. Building on this success, the CCS is set to introduce this initiative to five more Budget Private Schools in Delhi, broadening the impact and reach of these valuable educational opportunities.
