Centre for Skill Development and Career Planning Organizes ‘Kaushal Mela’

Aligarh : The Centre for Skill Development and Career Planning, Women’s College, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organized an exhibition cum sale, “Kaushal Mela” to exhibit the skills of the trainers and learners under the aegis of G20. The exhibition had stalls form small scale entrepreneurs as well as the students of the Centre for Skill Development and Career Planning.

The exhibition was inaugurated by the renowned Pediatrician, Dr. Hamida Tariq. She encouraged the students to learn vocational skills along with their regular education. She said, “Women’s College has always been reassuring to polish the talents of its students. Here, they not only learn but get a chance to exhibit their skills also”. She highlighted the importance of financial independence for women and motivated them to utilize their knowledge in creating a bright future for themselves and in contributing to nation-building.

Prof. Naima Khatoon, Principal, Women’s College, and Director of the Centre applauded the girls for their handicraft works. Discussing about the various courses of the Centre she said such exhibitions raise the confidence level of the trainees. “Here they not only showcase their talent but also get a chance to sell their garments, art pieces and handicrafts”, she added.

Chief Guest Dr. Hamida Tariq, Prof. Naima Khatoon and other guests bought various handicraft items from the exhibition.

Prof. Sheeba Hamid, Provost I.G. Hall, Prof. Roomana Siddiqui, Dept of Psychology, Prof. Ayesha Munira Rasheed, Asst. Director, Centre for Continuing and Adult Education, Dr. Faiza Abbasi, Director UGC, HRDC, Prof. Nazia Hasan, Dept. of English, Dr. Orus Ilyas, Dept. of Wild Life, Ms. Tanveer Badar, Ms. Sameena, Dr. Sadaf Fareed, President UDLC and Dr. Nazish Begum were present on the occasion.

The “Kaushal Mela” was sponsored by the ‘NS4 Hair and Beauty Academy’, Marris Road, Aligarh.

Dr. Samreen Hasan Khan, Student Counsellor, Centre for Skill Development and Career Planning briefed the guests about various vocational training and functioning of the Centre. She also welcomed the guests and extended thanks to them.
