CEO and Chairman Railway Board Inaugurates HMIS at 7 Health establishments of South Central Railway and Northern Railway
Chennai: Sh. V.K. Yadav, CEO and Chairman/Railway Board virtually inaugurated the Hospital Management Information System ( HMIS) at 2 Central Hospitals, 3 Divisional Hospitals & 2 Health of Northern Railway and South central Railway. An UMID android app was also launched on this occasion. The event was attended by all Railway Board members, Sh. Ashutosh Gangal, GM/NR, Sh. Gajanan Mallya, GM/SCR Sh. S.C. Khorwal, M.D. Central Hospital, Senior Doctors and Senior officials of Zonal Railways.
Indian Railways with the objective of bringing hospital management on a single architecture to prevent pilferage and making operations seamless has entrusted RailTel Corporation of India Limited (“RailTel”) with implementation of hospital management information system (“HMIS”) an integrated clinical information system for its 125 health facilities and 650 polyclinics across India for improved hospital administration and patient healthcare.
As of now 4 modules of HMIS viz registration, OPD, pharmacy and lab module have been implemented. The 2 Zonal Railways have provided their Master Data and we have configured it, hence roll out of all the other modules will not take time. The features of the software extend from customizing clinical data according to the departments and laboratories, multi hospital features that provide cross consultation, seamless interface with medical and other equipment and the patients will have the benefit of accessing all their medical records on their mobile device. There are about 20 modules of HMIS which will be implemented. The open source HMIS software is to be deployed over the cloud. This platform is linked to the unique medical ID of employees for which about 40 lacs UMID cards have been issued to the regular employees, pensioners and family members.
Speaking on this occasion Sh. Vinod Kumar Yadav, CEO and Chairman/Railway Board said” HMIS installed at Hospital will ease the system for Patients and Doctors being electronic documentation and proved to be very helpful in future.
Speaking on this occasion Sh. Puneet Chawla, CMD/RailTel said” we have implemented HMIS system in 7 hospitals in just 62 days of being given the go ahead for implementation. “.
