POONCH : Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Poonch working under the auspices of Directorate of Extension, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J), today concluded 15 day certificate course on “Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) for Input Dealers”.

The certificate course was conducted under the guidance of Vice Chancellor, Dr. J.P. Sharma and Director Extension, Dr. S. K. Gupta of SKUAST-Jammu.

Speaking on the concluding day, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Poonch, Dr. Ajay Gupta said that the dealers/retailers are an important link between company and farmers and key change agents in motivating the farmers to use fertilizers in a balanced manner.

While highlighting the role of such courses, he said that the dealers in addition to running their businesses may actually help the farmers to use the particular fertilizers based upon the crop and crop requirement.

The course coordinator, Dr. M.A. Guroo of KVK Poonch said that the main objective of this certificate course was that no unauthorized person shall be allowed to sell the fertilizers in illegal and inappropriate manner.

During the training, wide-ranging lectures regarding fertilizers were delivered by scientists from SKUAST-J and resource persons from Cooperative, IFFCO and SKUAST-K. Dr Muzaffar Mir, Dr, S.S. Jamwal and Sh. Mohd. Qasim played a pivotal role in running the course successfully that spanned from 10-05-2022 to 24-05-2022.

The training was attended by 07 participants hailing from different areas of Poonch district. The participants thanked the KVK in organizing the certificate course in a coordinated way and anticipated that the awareness and understanding gained during the training shall prove beneficial to them and to the farming community in the times ahead.

The programme ended with distribution of course certificates among the participants.
