CGC Landran celebrates Lohri Dedicates the festival to daughters

 

The Department of Student Welfare, Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC), Landran organised a vibrant cultural programme to celebrate the festival of Lohri in campus today. Students, members of faculty, and the entire CGC fraternity had a gala time enjoying the festive celebrations which marks the beginning of the harvesting season for Rabi crop and the end of the winter solstice. The event was also graced by the presence of Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman, CGC Landran, Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC Landran, Deans and Directors of CGC Landran. Post an enthralling Bhangra and Giddha performance by CGC students, Chairman, Satnam Singh Sandhu and President, Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, in the presence of staff members and students, lighted the holy bonfire offering their prayers for a prosperous and fulfilling year for everyone. Offerings of sweets including gajak, revari, sesame, jaggery further sweetened the rich spirit of Lohri.

Addressing the audience, Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman, CGC Landran, extended his best wishes to everyone on Lohri. He highlighted the significance of celebrating Lohri and its association with the legendary Hero Dulla Bhatti, in his address. Dedicating the Lohri celebrations in CGC to daughters, he termed it as daughters’ Lohri. Calling daughters the pride of the family, the nation and CGC, he emphasised that they are courageous and capable enough to take care of themselves and thrive in life. He applauded their achievements in all the fields including engineering, defence, corporate sector and the like. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC Landran also wished everyone a happy Lohri filled with joy, prosperity and success for the upcoming year.
The event concluded with fun games and competitions enjoyed by everyone present followed by a DJ party.
