Chairman DDC, DC Kupwara visit Handwara SD

Kupwara: Chairman, District Development Council, Irfan Sultan Panditpuri and Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Imam Din today visited Handwara sub division to take stock of the situation arisen due to incessant rains.

On the occasion, the DDC Chairman and the Deputy Commissioner inspected Batagund Bridge in Mawar area which was tilted one side due to flash floods.

The Deputy Commissioner on the spot directed for instant closure of the bridge for all types of transport to ensure safety of the people. He also directed the concerned Executive Engineer to ensure immediate repairs of the bridge so that people do not face any inconvenience. He also inspected the on-going work being carried out to channelize the water flow for maintaining safety of the bridge.

The Deputy Commissioner visited Gund Chowgal and inspected the damaged road and restoration of drainage and flood channels in flooded areas of the district. He directed the concerned engineers for immediate repairs of the road.

The Deputy Commissioner also visited Dudwan, Bohipora and other villages in Kupwara and took stock of the flood situation and damaged roads. He passed on the spot directions to the concerned engineers for speedy restoration of roads, drains so that the people do not face any inconvenience.

The DDC Chairman and the Deputy Commissioner during the visit were accompanied by ADDC Kupwara, Mohammad Ashraf Bhat; ADC Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir, Executive Engineers of R&B, I&FC and other concerned officers.
