Chairman JK PCC reviews functioning of J&K Pollution Control Committee

 

SRINAGAR : Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Committee (JKPCC), Suresh Chugh, today chaired a meeting to review the functioning of the Committee.

The meeting was attended by B M Sharma, Member Secretary, JK PCC, Dr. Nadeem Hussian, Regional Director, JKPCC Jammu, Rafi Ahmad Bhat, Regional Director, JK PCC Kashmir, Legal Advisor, JKPCC Kashmir, FA/CAO JKPCC, Scientists and district officers of JK PCC, Kashmir region.

Chairman asked the officers to expedite disposal of consent cases in a time bound manner. He emphasized close co-ordination between district administration and officials of Pollution Control Committee for better results.

The meeting discussed various issues concerning regulation of industries.

Chairman stressed that all units operational without valid consent in the respective jurisdiction of District Officers need to be brought within the ambit of consent mechanism.

During the meeting, the Chairman was informed that all newly sanctioned stations under National Air Monitoring Program in both Jammu and Kashmir provinces have been made functional and the data is being generated. It was also informed that Microbiological Lab in Jammu has been made functional and the Bio Lab of Kashmir shall be made functional by July end this year.

Chairman directed the officers to organise “Polythene-free” campaigns in order to raise awareness against the use and sale of illegal polythene and single use plastic.
