Chairperson DDC Ramban, DC inspect landslide hit Gandhari road
Direct Executing agency to start restoration work immediately
RAMBAN : Chairperson, District Development Council, Ramban, Dr Shamshad Shan and Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam today inspected the Kanga- Bathni- Gandhari road – the portion of which was damaged at kilometer 7 due to a massive landslide.
DDC Councillor, Shamim Akther, Tehsildar Rafiq Ahmed, Executive Engineer PMGSY, Arvind Kumar, PRIs and other officers were also present on the occasion.
After spot inspection and discussing the prevailing situation with the DDC Chairperson, Councilor and other public representatives, the DC assured that the District Administration would take all measures for speedy restoration operations and ensure essential supply to the cut off areas through transshipment. The DC also directed the ARTO to make transship arrangements to facilitate the people of the area.
The Deputy Commissioner directed Executive Engineer PMGSY to immediately start the work on the damaged stretch to restore the link for light motor vehicles to the Gandhari block. He informed that a team of experts from IIT Roorkee will examine the spot soon to prepare a plan for its permanent restoration.
The DC informed Bathni village to be developed as a tourist village which will boost the economic activities in the area. He also advised the farmers to adopt Horticulture and other allied activities to take maximum benefit of the government sponsored schemes.
Later, DDC Chairperson and Deputy Commissioner also interacted with the people at Gandhari and listened to their issues. The Executive Engineer assured the public that the PMGSY department will take over the Kanga -Gandhri road for its up-gradation.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson urged the Government to Re-sanction 17 Km long Kanga- Bathni road via Gandhri under PMGSY for its up-gradation. Assuring the people, the Chairperson said that she will take up the issue with higher authorities to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Block Gandhri on the development front.
The Chairperson informed that all the issues of public interest pertaining to Gandhari block have already been highlighted by her on priority basis during public outreach programmes of Union ministers and Back to village programme phase-4.
Earlier, DDC Councillor, Shamim Akther and other PRIs highlighted various issues of public interest including Ambulance for Gandhari Block, road connectivity between Gandhri and Tanger village etc.
