Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna (CIMP) organized the 1st World Management Conference (WMC 2023) on September 21-22, 2023 in Online Mode. This two-day conference served as a platform for academicians, research scholars, executives, entrepreneurs, and policymakers from academia, industry, government, and social, and non-profit sectors for a confluence of minds and exchange of ideas on the pressing business issues of the day that have consequences for all stakeholders.

The event started by lighting the ceremonial lamp, with Prof. (Dr.) Rana Singh, Director, CIMP, Shri Kumod Kumar, CAO, CIMP and Prof. (Dr.) G K Murthy, Chairperson, WMC 2023. Prof. (Dr.) G K Murthy briefed the presenters and other participants who joined online about the conference, which was followed by an address by Director, CIMP.

The conference was conducted in two technical sessions, with a total of 09 research papers presented by various institutes from across India. Four papers were presented on day one in the 1st technical session which included papers from Human Resource Management (HRM), and Entrepreneurship, Business Models, and Strategies (EBS).
The keynote address was delivered by the renowned speaker, Gail E. Tverberg, Researcher from ‘OurFiniteWorld.com’, Greater Atlanta Area, GA (US) on the topic “Complexity and India’s Sustainability” in which she highlighted the need for complexity, problems giving rise to the need for complexity with various examples, and how complexity hits limits. She further added that India’s per capita energy consumption is much less than many other countries because of which India can “come out ahead” in the next squeezing out. She also shared what India’s complexity strategy should be. As a concluding remark, she said that no economy can last forever, and a slowly growing economy is much more sustainable than a fast-growing economy.
Day two of the conference started with the second technical session which included five papers from Economics, Environment, and Public Policy (EEP), Marketing (MKT), and Production and Operations Management (POM).
Prof. (Dr.) Sibananda Senapati summarized the conference and boosted the spirits of the attendees with his inspirational words in the valedictory note. The Best Paper Award and a prize money of INR 10,000 was awarded to Ms. Vandana Kumari from IIM, Ranchi, who presented her paper on the topic, “A text-mining approach to determine the adoption factors of Blockchain-based Games.” The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Prof. (Dr.) Ranjit Tiwari, Convener, WMC 2023.
