Chhattisgarh and Wadhwani Operating Foundation Sign MoU to Enhance Employability in the State of Chhattisgarh

 

Raipur: Initiation of large-scale vocational education through eContent in Chhattisgarh’s secondary and higher secondary schools
Aimed at enhancing employability of students through skills-based training, delivered through an online and blended learning platform enabling students to be job-ready on graduation from high school
Quality skilling expected to improve the job prospects of the students undergoing the program, reducing the drop-out rates in the state of Chhattisgarh
Objective is to accelerate job creation and accrue demographic dividend for the State of Chhattisgarh

On behalf of the Govt. Of Chhattisgarh, Vikas Sheel, Secretary Education-Govt. of Chhattisgarh, exchanged the MoU with Wadhwani Operating Foundation. The MoU was signed during the 2-day Eastern Regional Conference held at Raipur organized by Ministry of Human Resource Development.

As per the MoU, Wadhwani Operating Foundation will provide E-Content for high-quality employability and work skills and certain macro job roles training programs delivered through a blended online learning platform. The Foundation will also assist in training the faculty in the state and help in creating Master Trainers as state assets.

To enable this, Department of Education (DSE) will set up and run the Program Management Unit which will govern this program. DSE will also provide adequate IT infrastructure to execute the WOF E-Content live to at least 25% of the schools from initiation of the program. During the next 24 months, the state of Chhattisgarh will provide direct, uninterrupted online access at the student level through a desktop or mobile devices to all schools. A total of 391 schools and over 15000 students will benefit from this association.

On signing this MoU, Vikas Sheel, Secretary Education – Govt. of Chhattisgarh said, “Development of vocational education stream in Govt. schools of Chhattisgarh is a State Government priority. Wadhwani Operating Foundation has successfully helped various State Government’s in this mission and our partnership with the Foundation will spur skill development and high-quality job creation in every district of the State. The Government of Chhattisgarh, in partnership with Wadhwani Operating Foundation, is fully committed to reform the vocational education in the state, and make vocational education more meaningful.”

Expressing happiness on this collaboration, Dr. Ajay Kela, President and CEO, Wadhwani Foundation said, “This partnership with Govt. of Chhattisgarh will focus on enhancing the employability of school students to command family supporting wages after undergoing 1000 hours of training. This collaboration between Chhattisgarh Government and Wadhwani Operating Foundation is the first step towards talent development in the State.”
