Chief Minister inaugurates two-day music festival ‘Virasat’ at Patan in north Gujarat

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani inaugurated the two-day music festival ‘Virasat’ in the backdrop of Rani-ki-Vav step well at Patan in north Gujarat. He also took round of the majestic stepwell and paid his obeisance at Kalka Ma Mandir.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that Patan known as the Swarna Nagri used to be the capital of Gujarat in the medieval period. A number of rare sculptures and architectural masterpieces like Rani-ki-Vav, Sun Temple at Modhera, Rudra Mahalaya, Bindu Sarovar have put Gujarat in the global tourism map.

Mr. Rupani recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had started a number of festivals in the state when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, like Tana-Riri Mahotsav, International Kite Festival, Uttarardha Mahotsav at Modhera, Rann Utsav in Kutch, Statue of Unity, Somnath, Dwarka and Lion Sanctuary. He said that Gujarat which was known as the land of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel has become Narendra Modi’s Gujarat.

Noted ghazal singer Hariharan, folk singers Jignesh Barot and Gitaben Rabari and other artistes kept the audience engrossed.

Those present on the occasion included Labour and Employment Minister Dilip Thakor, Youth & Cultural Activities Minister Ishwarsinh Patel, Patan;s Guardian Minister Vasanbhai Ahir, Principal Secretary for Youth & Cultural Activities C.V. Som, District Collector Anand Patel, District SP Akshayraj Makwana and prominent citizens.
