Chief Minister Vijay Rupani to inaugurate IIT Gandhinagar’s virtual Sustainability Fair on March 26

 

Gandhinagar: The Dr Kiran Patel Centre for Sustainable Development at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) is hosting its third annual Sustainability Fair online on March 26, 2021. Welcome and introduction to the event is scheduled at 9:30 AM. Shri Vijay Rupani, Hon Chief Minister of Gujarat, will give the inaugural speech virtually at 10:00 AM.

 

The theme of this year’s Sustainability Fair is ‘Renewable Energy & Water Resources’. The event will feature three keynote talks by renowned leaders in the field: Magsaysay Award Winner Dr Rajendra Singh, Chairman, Tarun Bharat Sangh; Dr Kalanithy Vairavamoorthy, Executive Director, International Water Association; and Dr Ashok Das, Founder CEO, SunMoksha.

 

Like every year, the Sustainability Fair will feature networking sessions and exhibitions, which are inseparable parts of the annual event. The two online networking sessions will be held around the subjects of ‘Trends and Technologies in Renewable Energy and Water’ and ‘Sustainability Partnerships’. It would provide a virtual platform to the participating organisations, industries, and scholars to discuss and explore collaborative opportunities for knowledge transfer and academia-industry partnerships around sustainable development. The Fair will also feature a panel discussion with Sustainability Officers of major industries and organisations on ‘Sustainability Reporting and Sustainability Finance’.

 

The virtual exhibitions are going to be a unique experience for the participants as regional and national industries and organisations working on renewable energy, water and other sustainability issues demonstrate their projects, best practices, activities, products and services, experiences and ideas related to sustainable development. There will be documents and videos section on each booth, which the visitors can save in their virtual bags for take-away and to email themselves or colleagues/ friends.

 

The 50 exhibitors at the event include the International Water Association, UNICEF, International Desalination Association, The Energy and Resources Institute, Centre for Water Policy, Regulation and Governance at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, International Water Management Institute, Sardar Patel Renewable Energy Research Institute, WIN Foundation, Sustain Impact, Water Digest, Centre for Environment Education, among others.
