Children Enrolled in Schools under ‘Save Chotu Project’

 

Aligarh : The Centre for Academic Leadership and Education Management (CALEM), UGC-HRDC, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) successfully completed ‘Save Chotu Community Service Project’, an initiative for eradicating child labour.
The project closing ceremony was held recently in collaboration with State of Youth, AMU. Mr Faisal Nafis, Principal, STS School, Minto Circle, AMU chaired the ceremony along with Mr Malik Mohd Arshad, Dr Mohd Sajidul Islam, Mrs Sherin Sherwani and Ms Zainab Sarwat (teachers from Aligarh Muslim University’s English Access Microscholarship Program).
Speaking on the occasion Mr Faisal Nafis congratulated the team for their dedication and hard work towards community service and also urged the youth to actively participate in community service.

Sponsored by the US Embassy’s Regional English Language Office and headed by Mr Mohd Anas from Department of Chemistry, AMU, Save Chotu Project has successfully enrolled 27 children in school from Firdaus Nagar locality of the city.
Several activities were held as part of the project like food distribution drive, medical camp, stationary distribution drive and three ethnographic surveys. More than 30 families and 75 child labour benefitted from these activities.
