Children’s Day celebrations at Dept of Amraz-e-Niswan-wa-Atfal

Aligarh : An outreach programme to ‘help children recover learning loss due to Covid-19’ marked the Children’s Day celebrations at the Department of Amraz-e-Niswan-wa-Atfal, Faculty of Unani Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).

“The pandemic that started off as a health crisis had fast turned into a learning crisis with prolonged closure of schools leading to a detrimental effect not only education but also on children’s physical and psychological wellbeing—which is why it is all the more important to organise educational programmes for overall development of children”, said Prof Suboohi Mustafa (Chairperson, Department of Amraz-e-Niswan-wa-Atfal).

Dr Diwan Asrar Ahmad Khan and Dr Mohd Anas discussed the impact of pandemic on mental, social and behavioural development of children.

They stressed parents and teachers of children to increase their number of study hours and time for physical activities while following Covid precautions.

A special counselling session of children was also held, said Abiha Ahmad Khan.

Prof Syeda Aamena Naaz with Dr Fahmeeda, Dr Diwan Asrar and Dr Mohd Anas distributed prizes to children, who participated in a drawing competition to mark the occasion.
