China University of Geosciences: 2 CUG Alumni Take Part in Beijing 2022 Olympic Torch Relay

With the theme “Enjoy winter sports and embrace a promising future”, the Beijing 2022 Olympic torch relay was held during February 2 to 4 in the three competition zones of Beijing, Yanqing, and Zhangjiakou. LI Jiulin and CHEN Bo, CUG alumni, took part in the torch relay.

Li Jiulin received his two bachelor’s degrees in geology and hydro-engineering geology in 1991, and his master’s degree in hydro-engineering geology in 1993. He is the chief engineer at Beijing Urban Construction Group, and the chief engineer of both the National Stadium (Nestle) and the National Speed Skating Oval (Ice Ribbon). He said, “It is my honor and the honor of so many Olympic construction staff for me to become a torchbearer. My team and I will do our job for a simple, safe, and wonderful Winter Olympic Games.”

CHEN Bo received his bachelor’s degree in hydrogeology and engineering geology in 1991. He serves as the deputy director of the Engineering Quality and Safety Supervision Department, Ministry of Housing and Urban-rural Development. “I appreciate the great era and our great motherland, which have given me this great opportunity and mission,” he said. “As a graduate of CUG, I will always adhere to CUG motto of ‘Truth-seeking, Hard-working, Plain-living, and Being Pragmatic’ in my job.”
