China University of Geosciences: High-performance Computing Platform Facilitates CUG’s Breakthroughs in Scientific Research
The High-performance Computing Platform is the foundation for groundbreaking scientific discoveries at universities. After long-term improvement, CUG’s High-performance Computing Platform (“the Platform” for short) has 3,304 cores, a storage of 332.133 Trillionbytes, and a bandwidth of 100 gigabits per second. It delivers up to 196.09 trillion floating-point operations per second (maximum burst). The Platform provides high-performance computing service for the disciplines of earth science, environmental science, geological engineering, materials chemistry, marine science, and information science, etc. As of September 1, the number of its users reached 748, including 172 faculty members.
With the help of the Platform, CUG accomplished 73 key projects and published 167 papers in SCI journals.
The Office of Informatization offers the training the teachers and students need to enable themselves to implement high-performance computing systems and technologies solutions successfully. Over 2,000 people have been trained.
CUG’s High-performance Computing Platform is available for all CUG faculty, staff, and students. It offers a variety of computing resources for teaching, learning, and research.
