China’s Remarkable Comeback in Men’s 4x100m Relay at Hangzhou Asian Games
On the evening of October 3, the stage was set for an awe-inspiring performance as XIE Zhenye, a doctoral student at the Zhejiang University College of Education, led a new generation of sprinters to a glorious triumph in the men’s 4x100m relay at the Hangzhou Asian Games!
CHEN Guanfeng, XIE Zhenye, YAN Haibin and CHEN Jiapeng clocked a season-best 38.29 seconds to stand atop the podium. This marked the fifth time that Team China had clinched the gold medal at the Asian Games.
Following their final sprint, the four athletes hugged each other tightly, and the on-site commentator, moved by the moment, exclaimed, “As a seasoned gold medalist years ago, XIE Zhenye has once again etched his name in history alongside the young athletes, securing China’s fifth gold medal in this event. The confidence of the younger generation has been nurtured, and are poised to stride towards an even grander stage.”
At this Asian Games, XIE Zhenye clinched gold medals in both of his events. When asked about his view on the relay race in a previous interview, XIE Zhenye remarked, “Why do people enjoy watching the relay race? It’s because of its unpredictability and limitless possibilities.”
Indeed, ‘impossible’ became ‘possible’ tonight, and we emerged as the champions!
